211 assistance.
Quad County News - October 29, 2007
A new non-emergency number is now available in some areas. Call 211. The services provided are non-emergency services. Still use 911 for emergencies if that is the number for your area.
211 is for finding shelter for the night, long-term housing, help if you have a bill you can't pay, like a utility shut off or a rent eviction.
The service is operated 24 hours a day and is through the United Way. The program was started about 10 years ago and is intended to be eventually nation-wide. If you do not know where to turn, call 211. If you need emergency help call 911.
Jackson county is the first county in the area with this service. The other Quad Counties are in the process of bringing up a 211 service for their county.
From cell and pay phones use 1-866-561-2500; this is a toll free call.

  Hoax E-mail
The Dr. James Dobson e-mail about being on CNBC because the FCC is going to ban the Gospel is a hoax. We believe it is a way to gather new e-mail addresses by an unscrupulous individual or group. Verbal confirmation has been made with Dr. Dobson’s office. This is a hoax. Wall of News November 20,2007.
